Plantation
Fruits
Coorg Orange has global recognition and has attracted the attention of the customers at the global level due to its colour and taste. In 1960s, Oranges were grown in 50000 to 60000 hectares. In view of the raising international market for Coffee, the Orange cultivation has reduced. The Horticulture dept for reviving Orange plantations in the Coorg, has established nurseries for growing samplings and encourage farmers providing them all the assistance for taking up orange cultivation.
The Chikku and Pineapple are grown abundantly in Coorg district. The cultivation of these fruits would encourage setting up of processing unit by the company.
